Today is International Dog Day and a great organization like Blue Wagon Group couldn’t let the day pass without sharing. So, if you’ll indulge us a bit, we have gathered some of our favorite furry friends and will now regale you the a few cute photos and a bit of our pet personality.
Anchoring at top left is the famous, and most recent in a fairly long line of regal family members at the Nancy Mayes household. His face is familiar to many of you from recent zoom calls, as he nuzzled his gentle, giant head in Nancy’s lap. We lost Ezra recently but will always have him in our heads and hearts.
Prior to Ezra, Hoover (lower left) was one of the “greatest” parts of Nancy and Tommy’s lives. Grady was the first Mayes Great Dane; see him at the bottom left. Bringing up the rear and only mentioned last was Fletcher, dog #2; he’s last because he allows us segue into the fact that, at Blue Wagon Group, we welcome all flavors of pets, canine as well as feline. You’ll note from the top right photo that Fletcher was also a big fan of Molly the cat; they lounged together often.
And speaking of felines, we have some real cat lovers in our Blue Wagon midst. Between Hoover and Grady down there at the bottom, you’ll find Russian Blue cats Rocco and Nicolas, 13-year-old littermates who welcomed 1-year-old Lexi into the Lynne Blasi household recently with lots of purring.
Situated above the Blasi cats are Dayle’s two very rambunctious rescue sisters, Gabby and Charlotte, who are basically dogs trapped in cat bodies, Dayle says. Directly above those two sisters are Tami’s cats. Yes, “The Cats of Tami von Isakovics” could legit be a full-length novel, complete with month’s-long rescue attempts, winter approaching, a few hisses, and chasing down felines for flea treatments, vaccines and the obligatory snip-snips. But all’s well that ends well and Señor Gustavo Squeekers is now happily ensconced with his siblings, Jake and Sophie, and they regularly sunbathe when they’re not helping Tami work.
We have plenty of other furry friends that have come and gone but let me introduce you to a few others in our photo today.
- Nala – Robin’s dog lounging up top between Ezra and Fletcher/Molly. Robin says Nala is rotten, but she looks sweet and innocent to me cuddled up there on the couch.
- Pup-Pup – yep, that’s the name of Ami Neiberger’s 11-year-old, happy little man in the bright blue leash. (Her kids named him.)
- Dot – is Paige’s dachshund who looks to me a bit embarrassed or maybe confused that she’s wearing little pink slippers. Either way, she’s adorable.
- Sophie – Melana’s “Velcro dog” has her ears perked right up on the brown checked couch just waiting for a chance to snuggle. She joined Sam, Melana’s senior dog, last year but he’s not quite so sure yet about her and only tolerates her snuggles. So he’s not in the picture.
- Lucky – situated just below Dot the Dachshund, is Anna’s lovely little 7-year-old girl who looks so adorable being so well behaved and all posing for the camera. And you should have seen her as a puppy!!
I wish we could have included a gazillion more photos of all the pets in our lives because our furry family members really do make life rich for us all. And happy lives can only spill over into happy work and that’s a win-win for the clients of Blue Wagon Group.
So, to everyone, we all wish you a Happy International Dog (and Cat) Day!
**Disclaimer: Lest anyone think I am personally not an animal lover, I grew up with Alaskan malamutes and have had a parade of pooches over the years; but sadly am lacking canine companionship at this moment, otherwise I would have included my own dogs!
