Earth Day 2026

Today is Earth Day. The theme this year is “Our Power, Our Planet,” a reminder that we all have a responsibility to love on Mother Earth.

For me, the images sent back from recent Artemis II mission compelled me to contemplate how our planet varies so greatly with beautiful diversity – and why it’s up to us and the coming generations to preserve and protect it.

We can all have a positive impact. Learn about our planet. Explore a new trail. Find a different route on your morning walk. Donate time and/or treasure to earth-friendly organizations. Every single action makes a difference, whether it’s ambling outside today to appreciate the miracle of a single blade of grass, participating in a river clean up, or supporting grand gestures from influential organizations like Oceana, the Blue Wagon Group client protecting the world’s oceans.

Maybe your superpower is investing in and motivating our younger people, the next generation, to learn about and love our Earth. Then, volunteer for a community event that motivates children to learn about Earth. Model planet priorities for your children and grandchildren.

From our oceans and waterways to the air, plains and mountains – Earth’s resources are the very soil, the essence of our existence. And to protect them we first must appreciate them.

So, get out there today. Take a walk. Gaze at a flower or a bug. Admire the diversity of the oak’s strength and hummingbird’s delicate wing. Talk to a young person about how every single environmental action makes an impact because it really is “our power, our planet.”
